Vision

Our Church:  VisionMissionPrograms

Our Vision For United Church:
As followers of Jesus, living in multicultural community, we seek to love kindness, seek justice, and to walk humbly with God.
- Micah 6:8

United Church has reflected on this passage as we have developed a vision and purpose for our community. This vision reflects who we are, and where we sense God is leading us.

As followers of Jesus living in multicultural community, we will seek to:

Do Justice

We seek justice and empowerment for the most vulnerable in our midst and in the wider world.

We do this by taking on issues of supporting programming for neighborhood youth in Rogers Park, by educating ourselves about global, national and local justice issues and by putting our faith into action where we can. We will work to build awareness around Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgendered inclusion in our church community and the wider United Methodist Church.

Love kindness

We embody the welcoming love of God - inviting all into full participation in our Church.

We make our building available to the larger community for programs for children, seniors, artists, community activists, people with AIDS and other worship communities. We provide a weekly Community Feast meal for those who are hungry. We welcome people of all races and nationalities, ages, abilities, and sexual orientation into full participation in United Church.

Walk humbly with our God

We provide a space of nurture for the journey of discipleship

Worship is the highlight of our week. Our worship planners are intentional about connecting our every day life and our faith through song, drama, visuals and congregational participation. Our worship reflects our racial and ethnic diversity and connects us to the God of grace whose arm always bends toward justice. Seasonal worship planning teams encourage participation from many different kinds of people. United Church encourages participation in small groups for spiritual development, friendship and personal sup port. United Church joyfully embraces the challenges of living in multicultural community.
