How can we reclaim and engage sacramental practices and sacramental living? Increasing our awareness of God at work through ordinary things helps us understand how we too can be God’s instruments of love and reconciliation in the world. By engaging in more intentional sacramental practices and a more expressive worship we can draw bold lines from worship to everyday life and faith. This workshop will experiment with reclaiming water, wine and bread, along with other “holy things” to encounter God more deeply.
The Rev. Chip Andrus, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Harrison, Arkansas, worked previously in the Office of Theology and Worship for the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. During his five years there he participated in the Sacramental Study Group that produced the Invitation to Christ sacramental report. This 54-page report and study encourages churches to deeper sacramental practice and reflection. Chip has also been instrumental in the Emergent Church movement in mainline denominations. He is a singer/songwriter and has four songs in the new Presbyterian hymnal supplement Sing the Faith.
