Worshiping and Singing Globally:
Excerpts from the WCC General Assembly

Sunday, April 30, 2006
2:30 – 5:00 pm

The explosion of interest in worship and music representing Christian faith in diverse cultures has been sparked by the General Assemblies of the World Council of Churches (WCC) held every seven years. These gatherings bring together pre-eminent musicians and worship practitioners from around the globe to shape the daily worship experience of the Assembly. This workshop will invite participants to re-create some of the images, music, rituals and insights gleaned from the February 2006 WCC General Assembly in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Mark Bowman is minister of music at the United Church of Rogers Park in Chicago and coordinator of the Worship Alive! workshop series. He received an M.Div. degree from Boston University School of Theology. He is serving on the support team for worship & music at the WCC General Assembly in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
