The Psalms contain arguably the most passionate and emotionally far-ranging moments in our Scriptures. What would happen if we allowed them to shape us in worship? What are the gifts and challenges of praying the Psalms? In this workshop, we’ll sing together, write together, and explore what these songs of ancient Israel might have for us today. Whether your style is “traditional,” “contemporary,” “blended,” “alternative,” or “post-modern,” you will have the opportunity to develop a perspective on how to use the psalms in worship.
Richard Bruxvoort-Colligan is a songwriter who creates imaginative and accessible congregational song. As a worship leader, he demonstrates that through quality music, liturgy and leadership the “emerging church” is a vibrant and welcome place. Richard serves as Minister of Worship Life at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and has several CDs of original music. His work on the Psalms is published by Augsburg Press and can be found at www.psalmproject.com. He almost never wears a tie. He lives with his family in Strawberry Point, Iowa, which is just as lovely as you might think. Learn more about his music and ministry at www.thisheremusic.com.
