Marty Haugen Weaving
Music through Liturgy Sunday, January 23,
2005
2:30 – 5:00 pm
Music plays an essential
role in the full, active and conscious participation of the assembly in
worship. This workshop will walk through the four-fold ancient liturgical
form—gathering, Word, Eucharist, sending—and offer creative and
diverse musical suggestions that undergird and enhance the flow of this
structure and deepen the prayer and worship life of the community.
Marty Haugen is a liturgical composer, workshop presenter,
performing and recording artist and author from Eagan, Minnesota. For the
past 20 years, Marty has presented hundreds of workshops and concerts
around the globe and produced more than 30 recordings and 400 printed
editions. Marty has composed a number of communion settings for Lutheran
congregations. Marty has served as an editor and/or consultant the GIA
hymnals Gather, Gather Comprehensive and RitualSong,
and has been a contributor to hymnals or supplements for many
denominational groups in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and Australia.
