Western Springs

Sunday, November 6, 2011

Rogers Park, Chicago

This workshop will explore two recently-published music and worship resources: Sing! Prayer and Praise (United Church of Christ, 2009) and Worship & Song (United Methodist, 2011). Together we will sing and hear a great diversity of songs published in these new songbooks as well as get valuable information on the selection and use of these worship resources from persons who were on the inside of their development.

M. Anne Burnette Hook is the minister of music and worship at
Christ United Methodist Church (UMC) in Franklin, Tennessee.
Formerly the Director of Music Resources at the General Board
of Discipleship UMC, she served as music editor for Worship
& Song
and was on the editorial team for The Faith We Sing
(2001). Her main focus is creative worship that helps people
experience the living Christ in many different ways through music
and liturgy.

The Rev. Scott A. Ressman is the Minister for Worship, Music
and Liturgical Arts with the national setting of the United Church
of Christ (UCC) in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the editor of Sing!
Prayer and Praise
and the producer of The New Century Hymnal
on CD
which contains live pipe organ recordings for all 617
hymns in the hymnal. Prior to coming to national setting of the
UCC, Scott served as the pastor and teacher of First Congregational
UCC in Andover, Ohio, and before that as a church organist
and choir director for many years.
