Building Usage Meeting

Join us on Saturday, July 13 from 1-3 pm for an important time of discernment. Our finance committee and board of trustees have been in conversation about the possibility of renovating space and dedicating additional space to Mary Crane so that they can expand their classrooms. There are a number of implications to this and our leaders would like to engage our broader membership in this discussion.
On July 13 we will use a structured process to consider the use of our building and how we move forward with our relationship to Mary Crane. Please take time to be a part of this important conversation.

Join us for a Racial Justice Summit: Boystown & Beyond.
13  July at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Lighthouse Church of Chicago
2335 N Orchard St, Chicago, IL 60614

We will address the pervasiveness of racism within the LGBT community and form a locally-based coalition to tackle the issue. Clergy of LGBT-welcoming churches and their parishioners are strongly encouraged to attend. While this event is non-sectarian, Lighthouse recognizes the importance of white churches being challenged to address injustice perpetrated by white people.

Attendees will get an opportunity to hear from various voices within the African American LGBTQ+ community from youth and transfolk to cis lesbians, elders, and business owners. Together they will describe the ways in which institutionalized racism limits the possibilities and hopes of African American LGBTQ+ people in Boystown and beyond. A plan will be presented to begin the movement to address racism in Boystown and beyond. Come learn, join, and lift up your voice!

Lighthouse UCC is a predominately African-American LGBT-inclusive church that welcomes all people. We are a nested within St. Paul UCC, Lincoln Park.

This event is convened by Lighthouse Church and co-sponsored by Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches and the Chicago Metropolitan Association of the UCC. Other co-sponsors are forthcoming.
