Dear Rogers Park
Community Members,

An appeal for financial support.

For well over 125 years our religious community has stood strong at the corner of Ashland and Morse offering sanctuary, assistance and hope to a vibrant and constantly changing Rogers Park neighborhood.

Justice, liberation, and freedom for all people are at the forefront of all that we do. This includes sharing our physical building with a range of valued community partners. Partnerships with Circles and Ciphers and the Northside Transformative Law Center focus us on restorative justice. Mary Crane Day Care, Refugee One, Chicago Yoga Garden, and NA/AA groups use the building to meet, strengthening the ties of community throughout Rogers Park.

Responding to the deepening economic crisis that has challenged many in the neighborhood, we have recently opened our doors to Care for Real, which is currently distributing food to more than 150 Rogers Park neighbors each week. We also continue our important weekly ministry of food and hospitality at Community Feast. And our New-to-You Thrift Shop has reopened as of June 1st as it approaches its centennial year of operation!

And still, we want to do more. We need to do more to be welcoming and accessible to our neighbors – to people who come for assistance; to people who come seeking a place of quiet, comfort, and renewal; to people who want to work for change.

Access for us means a lift and ramps. Access for us means front steps and a porch that are structurally sound and add beauty and a place to gather. Access for us means doors that swing wide open to people who need to be here.

Access is an EXPENSIVE undertaking. Members of our congregation, many of whom are facing great economic challenges themselves, have stepped up. Friends of our congregation and our partners in the United Methodist Church have also given support. Now, we are reaching out to our Rogers Park community Allies and need your help to enable us to break ground on the first phase of the project this fall!

We can reach that goal if some of you give $25 and some give $500. It will happen if you help us find other financial partners.
