Seth Botts is originally from Mount Vernon, Missouri. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s level degrees in Accountancy from the University of Missouri and is currently enrolled in the Master of Divinity program through

Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.  For the past two years, Seth

has served at The Gathering UMC in St. Louis, Missouri where he specialized in

connections, hospitality, and discipleship ministries.

Seth has a passion for exploring how faith communities can reimagine ways to welcome

and invite people whom the church would traditionally exclude, specifically the queer and

recovery communities. Through a focus on hospitality and connection, Seth seeks to

empower individuals into robust and transformative faith journeys. With experience in

12-step recovery, Seth seeks to encourage vulnerability and spiritual growth within the

communities that he serves.

Seth’s friends describe him as energetic, passionate, and dedicated. He has been known to

go all in when he commits to something and is excited to start this next adventure

alongside the people of the United Church of Rogers Park. He is in the process of relocating

to Rogers Park from St. Louis with Mildred, his three-year-old Irish Setter, and is excited to

get to know the community and congregation better.
